Robyn Sabel
Practice Coordinator (Clinical)
Robyn Sabel
Practice Coordinator (Clinical)
Robyn is the Practice Coordinator (Clinical) at Derwent Eye Specialists and a registered orthoptist. After more than a decade in various allied health roles, starting many years ago with a degree in psychology, she chose orthoptics as a reliable but flexible option when her two children were very young. Robyn has worked in private ophthalmology practices in New South Wales and Tasmania ever since, and particularly enjoys the varied nature of orthoptic work and the interaction it provides with people of all ages.
As the Clinical Coordinator, Robyn’s role is to make sure the practice’s clinical activities run smoothly, facilitating an easy transition for patients from waiting room to preliminary tests to doctor’s room. When you see her at Derwent Eye Specialists, she might be checking your vision, helping to make sure that the clinical staff have everything they need to help you effectively, having a chat with you in the waiting room, or she might be squirreled away in an office ensuring systems and processes are functioning well.
When she isn’t at work, Robyn loves bushwalking (and likes to think that her kids love it too). She is currently working on becoming a more convincing Tasmanian by increasing her tolerance to swimming in the Derwent all year round, but is more often to be found at a nearby cafe drinking a coffee and trying not to think about how cold the water is.

Practice Co-ordinator (Admin)
Rochelle is the Practice Coordinator (Admin) at Derwent Eye Specialists and is responsible for leading the reception and administration team. Rochelle brings to the team a genuine enthusiasm for providing the best possible service to our patients and their carers. To do this she must understand the ins and outs of every step of a patient’s journey, which she understands well having worked in a number of medical practices.
Whether greeting patients on arrival, answering the phone, booking surgery or undertaking any other of her administrative tasks, Rochelle is focused on streamlining how we do business at Derwent Eye Specialists. As the director of ‘first impressions’ Rochelle welcomes feedback on ways in which we can improve our patients’ experience.
Following a busy day at work you might find Rochelle practicing her lines for an acting scene, playing her guitar or taking part in as many new and exciting experiences as she can fit in her schedule!
Suffice to say Rochelle has the energy and drive needed to keep us all on track.
