Pentacam Scan

The Pentacam scan allows us to take very detailed pictures of the front of your eye, known as the anterior segment. It allows us to look at the shape and thickness of the cornea, and the anatomy and dimensions of the anterior chamber (the fluid filled space inside the front part of the eye).

A Pentacam scan is used for planning cataract surgery, and for diagnosing and monitoring some types of glaucoma and diseases affecting the cornea.

What will I experience during the scan?

The Pentacam scan is painless and takes just a few seconds to complete. You will see a bright light in the eye and may have an afterimage that lasts a few seconds.
